Senior Tax Manager – Canadian Tax

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Analysis, research and preparation of written correspondence relating to tax planning and tax reorganization engagements.
  • Create and execute many client facing engagement teams responsible for the completion of Canadian corporate tax engagements.
  • Perform high quality control by reviewing tax returns and other work done from other team members.
  • Prepare election forms.
  • Prepare transactions through the provision of client services.
  • Responsible for the delivery of industry and technical expertise relating to complex tax and assurance issues through high quality deliverables.
  • Liaise with CRA and other  provincial ministries on client issues.
  • Assist with team members and clients in response to specific corporate tax queries.
  • Analyze discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries and reports
  • Research client issues that arise.
  • Aid to the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals to meet client needs.
  • Assist with client engagement team prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities, risk areas, materiality and deadlines.
  • Understand client needs by their business and key risks.
  • Analyze ways to maximize the relationship with clients and deliver added value.
  • Analyze project financials (budgets, WIP, timely billing and collection).
  • Supervise project timelines against targets, adjust where necessary.
  • Improve and use team appropriately to ensure proper documentation is prepared.
  • Assist to the development of new ideas and approaches.
  • Provide feedback to team members.
  • Develop, coach, and train team members.
  • other accounting duties as required. 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Completion of Level 1 & 2 of the In-Depth Tax Program.
  • 5 to 6 years of relevant work experience in public accounting and/or tax consulting.
  • Strong knowledge/ experience working in Canadian Tax.
  • Solid understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles.
  • Expert at preparing and analyzing domestic tax compliance and implementing tax reorganizations. 
  • Experience working with accounting and tax software such as Caseware, Profile, Quickbooks and Simply Accounting.
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Some travel may be required.
