Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Prepare and perform many client facing engagement teams responsible for international corporate tax engagements such as; advice on tax planning opportunities, worldwide tax minimization strategies, and compliance issues for Canadian entities carrying on business in foreign countries.
- Assist organizations in deciding which corporate structure will be the most effective from a tax perspective in different countries.
- Prepare due diligence or modeling with respect to potential acquisitions by Canadian entities of international subsidiaries, partnerships or business operations.
- Analyze domestic/international federal and multi-state corporate/partnership information returns.
- Supervise project financials (budgets, WIPS, timely billing and collection and variance recognition).
- Accountable for the team members and clients in response to specific tax queries.
- Analyze client issues that arise from compliance or planning work.
- Participate in preparing and delivering competitive proposals to meet client needs.
- Participate with client engagement team prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities, risk areas, materiality and deadlines.
- Analyze ways to maximize the relationship with clients and deliver added value.
- Supervise in order to attain high quality control by reviewing tax returns and other work done from other team members.
- Supervise project timelines against targets, adjust where necessary.
- Aid and coach team appropriately to ensure proper documentation is prepared.
- Participate in development of new ideas and approaches.
- Develop, coach, and train team members.
- Other related duties as required.
Skills & Qualifications:
- CPA designation, or Master’s Degree in Taxation, or Member of the Bar.
- Completion of the In Depth Tax Course.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in public accounting with a minimum of 3 years in Corporate Tax.
- Strong knowledge/ experience working in international Tax.
- Large understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles.
- Highly experience preparing and analyzing international tax compliance and tax reorganizations.
- Strong knowledge of transfer pricing tax concepts and tax efficiencies of cross-border flows.
- Experience with accounting and tax software such as CaseWare, GoSystem, ProSystem and Profile.
- Proficient skills in using; skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Some travel may be required.
